About Us

Mr Essa Sumar was a self taught mechanic. He was born in Kenya and for many years worked as a mechanic running his own garage in the town of Thika in Kenya.

In 1973 he came to settle in the UK. Mr Sumar worked as a mechanic for several companies in Leicester and Bristol. Having run his own business in Kenya, Mr Sumar always wanted to open his own garage. His dream came true when he opened his first garage in Bristol. Initially this involved working from home but soon moved to a purpose built garage.

As the business grew he was joined by his son, Nizar and a young apprentive named Harpal Singh. In 2000 Mr Essa bought a bigger premises on Hinton Road and ran the business from there, under the name of Hinton Motor Services Ltd.

In March 2003 the garage opened its MOT Station. Mr Sumar was present at the opening ceremony of the MOT Station but sadly passed away soon in the same month.

The garage is now run by his son Nizar Sumar and a small group of staff.
